Bodybuilding; An Answer For "Hardgainers"
The difference between bodybuilding and general strength training?
This letter is for people who go to the gym,
eat healthy,
do their cardio,
and…
it doesn't show.
They're consistent,
week after week,
month after month,
year after year;
but, they plateaued.
Why is this the case?
Is this just the hand they were dealt?
Is it there genetics?
Or,
are they missing something?
Bodybuilding
A bodybuilder differs from a normal lifter through the focus on:
• posing
• bulking/cutting
• achieving a pump (mind muscle connection)
This enables them to systematically add muscle to their frame.
1. Posing:
The act of flexing your muscles in a way that showcases your physique, muscularity and symmetry.
The main poses are:
front double biceps
rear lat spread
side chest
rear double biceps
side triceps
abdominals and thighs
most muscular
In short;
posing increases awareness.
The best way to see your muscles is when they're fully contracted.
By seeing,
you can assess.
Improving your ability to pose builds your intuition for how to actually engage your muscles during exercise.
You’ll find yourself adjusting your positioning automatically within exercises,
because now you know what it feels like to engage the muscles of your target.
It moves you from choppy, robotic, awkward movements,
to a beautiful flow.
2. Bulking/Cutting:
Body fat is controlled through diet and cardio.
Natural bodybuilders stay within a range of ~8% - ~16% year round.
Bodybuilders cycle through periods of gaining weight in order to add muscle to their frame,
until they reach the top end of acceptable body fat,
at which point they transition to a period of cutting body fat to reveal the muscle that they have built,
and to prime themselves for the next muscle building phase.
3. Achieving a Pump:
When your movements seem to flow,
that's when you grow.
Bodybuilding is an art.
Each rep is paint on the canvas.
Training revolves around pumping blood into the muscles of your choice.
Your mind muscle connection is relied upon to do this.
The more blood you pump into your muscle,
the bigger your pump.
The pump serves as an indication that sufficient work was done for a given muscle group.
You can learn to identify the feeling.
When you reach proficiency in this,
building muscle becomes a systematic process.
An addicting game.
You aren’t a “hardgainer”,
you don’t train with the attention to detail required to continue getting results.
Bodybuilding is the art of building your dream body.
The only limits are those that you place on yourself.
